"Uncle Francis, Uncle Francis!"

"Hm?" The Frenchman, Francis, turned around and saw a little blond boy, no older than three, running toward him. He grinned as the child jumped onto his lap, holding on tightly to the stem of a red rose.

"Uncle Francis, look! I got you a flower!" He grinned widely. "This is your favourite kind, right? That's why I got it. It's even red to match the rest of your flowers! It's not all red, though... some of it is white." He shoved the flower in Francis' face.

"Oh? And why is that?" Francis asked, taking the rose and looking it over.

"...Dunno. But there was a man there, and the red was all around him."

The Frenchman's eyes widened a bit with realization, and he dropped the rose. "Oh. I see."

Alfred's smile instantly disappeared. "Wh-what's wrong, Francis...? Do... I picked that flower just for you! Did you not like it?" He sniffled a bit.

"Non, Alfred, it isn't that I don't like it. I just... erm..." How the heck was Francis going to explain it to Alfred? Either he tells the truth and gets murdered by Arthur, or he lies about it.

"What...?" Alfred blinked up at Francis, his innocently blue eyes curiously staring at the older man.

"It... Maybe the flower belonged to the man that you found it near. It might be a stolen flower, and I don't want a stolen flower," Francis said. It was better than nothing, right?

"But but but... Who cares? I got it just for you! If the other man wanted it, he should have said something or tried to take it back." He gave a rough nod.

"I know, and that's why I'm thankful." Francis kissed the top of the child's head. "Come on... We could go looking for flowers. Together. I'll even find the prettiest one, and I'll give it to you. How does that sound?"

Alfred's face lit up in a huge, childish grin. "Really?! You'd do that! Come on, let's go!" He hopped off of the Frenchman's lap and then grabbed his hand. "Stand up! Hurry, let's go!"

"Alright, alright," Francis chuckled. He stood up. "Lead the way then, Monsieur~"

"Okay!" The American let go of Francis' hand and ran out the door. Francis followed behind him, closing the door. After a little while, Alfred stopped at a field. "Here we are!" he shouted. "This is where I found the first flower."

"...Is this the place that you saw the other man?"

"Yep! C'mon, I'll show you him!" Before Francis could grab Alfred to prevent the child from running off, Alfred bolted toward where the man had laid earlier.

"Alfred, come back!" Francis shouted. When he caught up with Alfred, he noticed that the child looked sad. "What's wrong, Alfred?"

"Th-the man is gone! Maybe he was mad that I took his flower so he left..."

Francis looked at the ground and noticed that it was stained red. "Oh..." He picked Alfred up, stepped back a few times, and then set him down again.

"...So why's it red anyway?" Alfred asked.

Francis wasn't very prepared for the question, so he lied and said the first thing that came to his mind. "Well you see, Alfred, it's... it's part of a rainbow." He gave a nod. "You see, sometimes parts of rainbows fall to the ground. But don't touch it...!"

"Wow! A rainbow!" Alfred stared at the bloodstained grass, not yet getting close to it again. "Why can't I touch it?"

"Uhm, well, you see... remember the man you saw earlier? He was... an angel. And if you get too close to his fallen rainbow, he'll be very, very upset.

Alfred gasped. "An angel! Really?" He reached toward the spot on the ground. "I wanna touch the part that the angel touched! Please, Uncle Francis?"

The Frenchman shook his head and pulled the child back and away from the bloodied grass. "Non, Alfred, or else the angel will cry. You don't want him to cry, do you...?"

The American violently shook his head, wearing an expression of extreme frustration. "No, but..."

"But nothing, mon ange." He kissed the top of the child's head again, holding the other's hand and walking a little. "Come on, let's look for flowers, okay?"

Alfred sighed, glancing at the spot before looking away again. "Okay. I just hope that the angel is okay, and I hope he gets his rainbow back. Mister Angel, if you can hear this, I'm sorry for taking your flower that was a part of your rainbow."

If only Alfred knew...
So I was roleplaying with an America [whose dA I don't know] and it was crackish and went all over the place... and I started to molest her so she turned into Chibimerica so that I'd stop, and then... this happened. =3=
I know they're OOC, but... oh well? ;w; And I know that the rainbow thing sounds like something England would say, but... I was being France, so nyeh. xD;

You may think that the rainbow thing doesn't work, but I think it fit...If Francis was trying to think of how Arthur would handle I could totally see this coming to mind.
